We’re all used to watching animation on screen, whether it’s on a phone, a computer monitor or a TV screen. There’s something about the energy of a shared experience that makes live shows special. That’s why we love it when we get to create animated live event introduction videos, backgrounds and interactive content. For this year’s National Bed Awards, we got to do just that.
We’d worked with the National Bed Federation before for National Bed Week, but this was a very different kind of project. Instead of simple charm and fun 2D characters, the order of the day here was 3D drama, wowing the room into giving full attention to the stage.

It went really well. We certainly created the effect we were hoping for and had some comments that it was the best gala dinner and awards ceremony yet, in part due to the theatrical animations!

We created a bespoke awards animation and event intro film for the 2025 National Bed Awards, designed to set the tone for an evening celebrating excellence across the industry.
Inspired by the energy and visual language of 90s Britpop, the animation established a bold, nostalgic identity that complemented the entire event.
The final concept was selected from three initial creative directions and developed through a collaborative process with the National Bed Federation. From early written treatment and art direction through to storyboards, animatic and final animation, we worked closely with the team to refine every detail.
In addition to the main intro film, we produced eight category animations, including ‘Component Product of the Year’ and ‘National Retailer of the Year’, as well as two fast-turnaround films for categories decided just days before the event.
Delivered over a two-month production period with regular client feedback built into every stage, the project is a one of our favourite examples of our work in animation for live events and awards ceremonies.
The gala dinner and awards ceremony was hosted by the legendary Vernon Kay, with a live performance from the UK’s number one Oasis tribute band, Oasish. It all took place at the Telford International Centre on Tuesday 23rd September. A good time was had by all, and we’re proud to have been part of it.
